What is a Slide?
Well a slide is a ball run from the middle blocker from position 3 you start your run up like a late quick ball then you need to start to transition form position 3 out to position 4 at which time the setter has set the ball low may peaking at the top of the antenna but very flat and fast, as the middle runner it's important to jump off 1 leg to hit the ball its not the most played ball but its effective if you master it. You will get a lot of coaches who don’t believe its a good ball to run but if it can be executed well its a fantastic run. The idea is to catch the middle blocker off guard and find your self hitting with no block. Hope that helps |
