I run slides on my league team all the time and have yet to be blocked. Im a middle hitter so if were running a 5-1. Im generally right next to the setter. So if she is setting from the right side Ill generally call the play when I notice the blockers are starting from the middle. That way when the ball is back set I fake a middle then quickly run and hit a slide, mostly cross court. Its pretty much a point everytime unless I hit it long but I hit it right at where their setter is playing D. I tattoed a setter in the chest last week. Sure it wouldve been out but if you hit it hard enough some people cant get out of the way in time. I love the play and it really opens the court up for myself and the strong hitter. The blockers know that they have to stay home and they can't cheat to block middle. Its a simple little play that can open the court for everyone when consistantly played. |
