ZONE 7. Perhaps it's a locality thingy

Commonly zone can be used in reference to the nine zones on along the net. One meter per zone, either called setter’s zone or hitter’s zone. It can also be used in reference to the six rotational positions on the court. However the two doesn’t get mix together.

The reference in zone is often for hitter's zone in reference to the set. It is also commonly only called positions to operate in the simplicity of the outside, middle, and weak-side positions. To the hitter, they have the line zone, power alley zone, and cut angle zone for target.

For serving we talk about front and back zone and also left, middle, and right zone. We also have the service zone, normally called service area.

For setter's zone is nothing more than where your setter is stationed at, sometimes called setter's box. If you have middle front setter, that's your setter's zone. If you have right side setter, that's your setter's zone. If your setter is from the back row, obviously your setter's zone shouldn't be on the net, but preferably more on the ten foot attack line.

For passing defense, zone is the general area a person is assigned to defend on the court. It's varies based on individual ability in lateral movement. Sometimes the wording zone defense is the same as base defense. This is nearly the same as perimeter defense.

Zone blocking, you merely commit to an area along the net to take away the hitter’s best choice. Choose line or power angle to block the hitter’s zone.

All of this can also be referred target zone. We begin with the server and their serving target zone. Next is a passer’s target zone which is the setter’s position. The setter’s setting is the target zone along the net. The hitter’s target zone is intercepting the set and putting it down into the opponent’s court space.

For the most part the Setter's Zone is in Zone 6 in this format:
netnetnetnet
54321-6-789

which is pretty much the same as
netnetnetnet
12345-6-789
