It is better than most cameras in this price range but is limited compared to higher end cameras. For instance, the photos are a little grainy because I could not adjust my settings enough for the lighting, zoom and shutter speed I wanted. With a high end camera, I could get zero grain and the shutter speed high enough to "stop" the ball in place. With my camera, I had to sacrifice shutter speed to get enough light for the photo. The result is a blurry ball except when I catch it almost stopped such as the peak of a set...

Middle Hitter is recognized as a volleyball news outlet so I was able to sit and walk around on the floor of the Final Four matches using a press pass. I was even able to vote for the All Tournament team. However, those with good tickets were able to get almost on the court and thus would be able to get good photos also.

Oh yes the settings: ISO400 (max for my camera), Shutter speed at 1/125 (needs to be a lot shorter say 1/1000 or more) and an f-stop of 3.1 to 3.4 depending on how much I was zoomed. I really needed a 2.8 f-stop with a fast lens but again, equipment limited.
Next time it's in Penn. hook me up with a press pass and I'll take pictures with my camera Rebel XT :-D
