It's the same thing with hitters, passers, setters and just on a personal level. If I want to improve myself as a volleyball player/coach, I want to know every detail about the game.

As a coach, I'd think you'd need to know every aspect of the game but as a player, wouldn't you want to focus on your strengths to be the best position player you can be as opposed to the jack of all trades?
