I think you could design socks for sand but anything I've seen so far would probably cause you to have less friction than more and may result in sliding. I don't think anyone ever has a sliding problem in sand so that might be why they're more prevalent.
I've never used sand sox but I imagine they have a variety of benefits: no drying out of your toes from sand, no chaffing later in the day if you can't wash the sand out, insulation against hot sand, awesome tan line around the ankle, getting oggled by the ladies because you look so cool. The list goes on... |
Some Sand Socks have a flat nonabrasive bottom making a wet slick surface that a person could fall. As for ACL injuries, in our sport they mainly occur because of missed landing and poor foot wear. Therefore, this is why I ask.
As for the coolness of wearing something to protect your feet from bird crap, cuts and scraps well I can tell you nasty feet is not a plus with the ladies. Girls that watch / play VB want their boys to be good players no matter the tools they used to get there. We all have our tricks some think are "Not cool" but they get the job done for us.

I agree, just last week I was playing 4's beach and my toes were craping from the cold. Two guys on the court wearing socks were all comfy. All I kept thinking was why didn't I bring mine.

ps, what you suggest glenn for playing 2's on grass? barefoot? regular socks? maybe just good sneakers? on grass, I've tried sandals, barefooted, just socks, sneakers too, but not sure what is best on grass?
when the sand is hot, how you get used to the hot sand? in the avp, the avp is watered down, but in regular play, how did one get used to the hot sand???? 1422 now |
