Line Up Help - 05-12-2008, 10:53 AM

Anyone who has run a 5-1 knows that you line up your Middles, and Outsides opposite eachother and your setter is opposite, well your opposite. But past that, is there any difference/importance from a position standpoint (not a player standpoint)?

What I mean is, if you start with your setter in the I spot & the Opp in the IV, you have two possible lineups:

I - Setter
II - OH
III - MH
IV - Opp
V - OH
VI - MH

I - Setter
II - MH
III - OH
IV - Opp
V - MH
VI - OH

Basically, what, if any, are there a benefit to having the OH lead or follow the Setter?

There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
