Hey, woa.....
CT ain't no cow tipping state fool. In fact it's one of the most hoshy toshy snobby states in the union (one of the reasons I'm not terribly fond of living here). There is alot of great ball in the area, just because we can't play outdoors year round doesn't mean there isn't good talent and coaching. VB in general is overlooking in the NE due to the popularity of other sports.
Back to the debate..
any coach/leader/manager is going to have to earn the respect of their players. Wether that comes from previous reputation or current action is still must be earned. This is one of the key challenges facing any leader. Some coaches do this by being tough (see Tom Caughlin and Bill Parcells) others do it by loving players up (see Jimmy V & the others).
If a women coach can get her team to win.... that's the bottom line. In order to do that her players need to be enrolled in her system. That's got little to do with sex, and more to do with leadership. All athletes will respond to different people differently a good coach will realize how they interface and adapt to produce results. It may be easier for a man to command other men's respect do to the cultural moreys in place...... that being said. It just takes the right person with the right people doing the right things. |
