It probably gets back to why they don't communicate... Egos, timidness, newness to the sport... If it is a bunch of big heads, I agree, go find a new team. If it is shy, timid, or new people, lead by example. Request help from your teammates on calling the ball in or out. Remind them that "I don't know" is a completely valid call in addition to "IN!" or "OUT!" One thing I have tried to get teams to talk that I have played on is always have someone call the first ball no matter how rediculous it may seem and have the setter always call "Help!" even on shanked passes that no one can help. It gets people talking.

It seems to me that if you pay someone to do something they are usually much more willing. (keep it PG guys.)
