What are good exercises to get the timing down besides just hitting over and over.

There aren't any. You need to build up an understanding with your setter. Everyone sets slightly differently. Everyone approaches slightly differently. You can't do anything about it and you can't learn timing without your teammate there.

No more cast, no more crutches, no more wheel chair, and yes more volleyball!

Mr. Owl, how many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?

So does everyone believe that this is true? It seems to me that although there might not be 'exercises' to get your timing down. Repetition of hitting with a decent coach to watch or videotaping could help to understand what is wrong with timing. I agree that every setter is different but Mr. Owl, you make it sound like to be a good hitter you can only have one setter ever. And I have seen some good hitters who use different setters.

Reps are key. It also depends on the setter. When i moved down here to so. cal, my timing was waaay off because all the setters here play beach, which makes their sets a "deep dish" set. so, know your setter and don't screw up on your 4 step.

We won our co-ed hardcourt volleyball league tonight. We won 7 straight games from pool play through the finals however I agree It’s a little frustrating going between sand and hardcourt volleyball because the timing is so different, but after playing sand you feel like you can fly on the hardcourt.
