Gotta disagree with this one, kinetically speaking the most efficient way to swing is straight through finishing at the side of your body. Think: swing through and slap your thigh (right if you are right-handed, and vice versa.)

There's a higher probability of rolling your ankles if you plant your right and close left in this manner of making an outside approach from the left.
