New book "Winning Doubles: Mastering the Game Through Strategy and Training"

As many of you know there are very few books on the market about outdoor volleyball. Over the last 10 years I have pretty much bought every book on that subject, from fundamentals, to training, and even strategy. Each time I eagerly awaited the book's arrival. Imagine my disappointment when I started reading to find out that I already knew most of the information contained in the book. The truth is that most books on the market, even ones written by pros, are geared to beginning players. They may claim to help you win more, or to teach you the strategy, but focus mainly on fundamentals and principles that anyone who knows the game should and probably does, already know.

In light of this, last summer, I decided to start writing a book of my own based on what I have observed in many capacities: official, organizer, coach, player, AVP spectator, and overall student of the game. My book is called Winning Doubles: Mastering the Game Through Strategy and Training. It is meant to bring players of all levels immediate improvements in their game. Using a series of strategies that I have not seen discussed in any book currently on the market, I cover all aspects vital to a player's success on the doubles court. I used my connections at the AVP to see if they could get a pro to write an endorsement. And they hooked me up with Hans Stolfus, the 2005 AVP Rookie of the Year. He wrote the endorsement for my book. After the endorsement was written, I felt the book had some credibility, so started the exciting process of getting my book published! A year after I started, the book is finally on the market. My book assumes that players already know how to execute the basic fundamentals. The book is geared to fine tuning these skills, using training, pre-match strategy and in game tactics to gain the upper hand. Therefore it is not written for a true beginner, as it does not cover technical aspects of each skill in detail. So you've just started writing this book last summer and finished it and got it published already? That's an amazing feat of work to accomplish in such a short time.

Does the information in the book have appropriate applications for Team Plays as well?

Choosing the right partner
Team serving strategy
Dealing with situations where one teammate is being served exclusively
Team Defense/Blocking Strategies
Communication between partners
In game adjustments
