And you see in almost every game that the libero is in left back except for the serve receives.
Oh set10, dont you find it funny when there are still some nice ignorant people saying volleyball is a weak or women sport haha. I do find them around here.
I'm pretty sure the libero serving is not an official USAV rule yet. Alot of high school associations are trying it and some NIRSA (collegiate club) does it as well, but I'm pretty sure USAV does not. Yet. Regarding where the libero goes, it would depend on your team's defensive dynamic. In most cases a left back would be power angle for the OH (the most often used hitter) but some defenses rotate him all the way around to pick up the cut shot in the hard angle (usually when trying to triple block all hitters) so, basically it depends on the team. And yes, I do find it funny when they think its only a women's sport. Thats when its fun to start crushing balls at their faces on the beach.

sweet vids everyone. I'd post one too but I'm too lazy and I'm sure you can find them yourselves anyways

Volleyball is a woman's sport... why do you think I'm always at the beach watching and playing co-ed... someone's gotta be there to cover them up when they fly outta their bikini tops.

Every single player must know how to pass. The setter still plays defense, they will be forced to pass during every game. The middles who are libero'ed out must pass when they are in the front row, or during the rotation in which they are serving. Obviously the other players pass all the time.
Also all players must be able to set. The setter takes the first ball someone must be able to put up a hittable set. Also on a shanked pass there needs to be a hittable set. Free balls are not an option at higher levels.
Every player must be able to serve, there is rumor going on about introducing the libero serving to the men's game as well.
Every player should learn to hit. The setter should be an option to hit as well if they are not the one setting. Also liberos should be able to hit a hard down ball.
Every player should also be able to hit back row, If there is a bad pass, back row must be an option.
I wasn't saying people can ignor basic fundamentals, but I'm asking if different players should learn different things.

Once again, I reiterate that I have never gone to practice so I'll ask these things at the risk of seeming stupid.

Do Libero's go through drills on footwork when blocking?

So Setter's go through drills on from the attacking side on running stacks, slides, and shoots on teams that run a 5-1? (i.e. not setting the ball for a stack, slide or shoot)

Sure, every player should know how to do the basic fundamentals of the game, but what differentiates players from their positions? Or does everyone do the exact same thing in practice? I'm really curious what you guys do.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

A lot of all of that depends on the situation and the coach. A middle school or high school team has only a couple of months for their season, so they may tend to specialize their players to fit into the coach's scheme... this, of course depends on how many club players they have on the team, too.

I know that when I coached club, everyone learned everything... especially footwork. Then again, you're given over half a year to coach in a club situation. All players participated in all the drills, but the amount of time each person spent in the drill varied. You obviously wouldn't want a 4'9" libero spending more time doing middle blocking drills than your middle blockers any more than you'd want your middle blocker spending more time doing passing drills than your libero.

There's flexibility in being able to play any position, but people will favor playing certain positions or are better at certain positions. That's where rotations forces people out of whack.
