Using Your Head In A Game? - 08-26-2006, 03:09 PM

We were playing a tourney last week an in one of the matches a teammate used his head to pass the ball, then consecutively played two more passes (counting his head as one pass). The referee called it a foul, saying that "If somebody headed the ball at all - then the ball should be sent to the opposite court in one pass" - meaning there won’t be any consecutive passes after the heading!!!

I think his was wrong, but what do you think?

The ref was wrong. You can head the ball on the first touch and then have two more consecutive hits before having to get the ball over the net. Remember, you can play the ball with any part of the body but cannot lift/carry it.

The question is did you win?

Correct... You can even play it with two parts of your body as long as it's one attempt and a fluid motion (not sure EXACTLY how the rule book words it)

Gets even trickier thhheeenn lol

Heading the ball is legal - while not encouraged... We've run a quick of a header before

I normally hear them called errors or faults but it's probably like ump or ref or judge...
