My pre-game ritual is not anything exciting relax focus strech and play.

However, I saw some funny rituals at a tournement I went to last month. One team yelled into the ground and when they said like thunderbirds on 3 they would say "THUNDERBIRDS......... ON 3, it kinda psycs the other team out because they think there really wierd and when they say good luck they slap every person on the opposite teams butt lol.

Whenever I get a chance to, I like to stretch a little and pepper some to see how my ball handling is and hows my hitting feeling for the day.

Light pepper, then stretch (its not good to stretch cold muscles, hence the light pepper), then longer pepper and hitting. I may do a light jog if I'm cold.

Then I sacrifice a chicken and read the entrails, but only during the solstice.

i don't know if you guys get the magazine from spikenashbar.com but last year, they had an excellent warm-up pre-game routine - made up mostly of yoga movements.

I tried that and found Yoga to be extremely helpful as a pre-game workout. From your breathing to warming up the legs, arms and core, it's great.

Hippie.

I'd have to say my pregame includes a 12" subway sandwich (chicken onion terriyaki), my iPod and a whole bunch of tape (ankles, fingers, wrists, ankle braces). After that, i go into my chanting of "I'm gonna rape, kill, pillage and burn. Gonna rape, kill, pillage and burn, eat babies" ah, fond high school memories.

So what type of stretching does everyone do or what muscle groups do you mostly focus on?

do body-weight and jump squats to get your legs pumped and the blood flowing befor the game

Some mild to hard peppering around before the game should also get your shoulders and arms ready to go.

I'm short at 5'8 but I can get up there..however, without proper stretching and warm up, I'm as cold as ice and can't move or jump at all.

I've got some older people on my team and it pisses me off when they don't take the initiative to get to games early - it's why we usually start off piss-poor

My warm up is mainly based on mental conditioning...

Take a nice jog around the track (or court) to get the blood flowing, and have time to think. It's a nice minute or two where I'm alone, away from coaching and thinking about anything but me. I get to visualise my sets, my serves and passes. Running is realise peaceful and just gives me that time to mentally prepare. A clear mind helps me concentrate on my skills.

I think streching is key... I quickly warm up my shoulder (since I don't hit except for a jump serve), strech my calves, quads, hami's and stomac (what i feel help me jump higher) and then my hands.

Last, since I'm a setter, I just try to set from my spot to my outside hitter, over and over again. Nothing is wrong with some repetition.

Thats my pre-game

As weird as it may seem, I sit down in the gym close my eyes and focus. Once I block out all the sounds and emotions I move toward the court and play. One days I can't do my little ZEN feel action, I don't play as well
