This is a full-time, 10-month position responsible for coaching, recruiting, and managing the existing women's team, while initiating a new men's program through extensive recruitment activities; with additional responsibilities within the Department of Athletics and Recreation. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree, Master's preferred, with significant and successful collegiate playing/coaching experience and the proven ability to recruit and retain quality student-athletes. Women’s Volleyball Head Coach

Posted: 07/18/2006 Application Due: 08/01/2006 Type: Part-Time/Adjunct Centenary College, a Division III member institution of the NCAA competing in the Skyline Athletic Conference, is now accepting applications for a part-time Women's Volleyball Head Coach. Centenary College is a vibrant, growing, applied liberal arts college located in scenic Northwest New Jersey, about 50 miles from New York City and 20 miles from the Delaware Water Gap. We seek a dynamic individual who is interested in joining an Athletic Department that is engaged in building a College whose reputation for "Student-Centered Learning and Unparalleled Service" will be second to none in the student markets we serve. Total student enrollment is 2,400 which includes full-time and part-time students in the undergraduate and graduate programs, the accelerated non-traditional undergraduate and graduate programs and the on-line program. The College offers students strong academic programs and is redesigning programs that focus on specific learning outcomes (such as the Greater Expectations) and authentic assignments to ensure that each of our students succeeds. Centenary has a completely wireless campus where all full-time faculty and all full-time undergraduates in the traditional program have laptop computers, and many classrooms are multi-media equipped with teachers' stations.
The Women's Volleyball Head Coach is a key member of the institution's NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics staff. He/she is responsible for supervising, planning and coordinating the activities of the Women's Volleyball Team at Centenary College. The incumbent must be able to work independently and be prepared to travel frequently with the team.
Responsibilities include:
* Encourage the academic progress, in conjunction with the faculty, of student-athletes toward graduation.
* Develop team for sport competition; oversee daily practice of student-athletes.
* Promote the College, the Athletic Department and the Women's Volleyball team through public relations activities and the Sports Information Office.
* Recruit talented student-athletes for the Women's Volleyball team.
* Maintain responsibility for administrative duties pertaining to the Women's Volleyball team.
* Coordinate and supervise fundraising activities for the Women's Volleyball program.
* Supervise the conduct of assistant coaches and staff and their activities, including compliance with Conference and NCAA legislation and provide annual evaluations.
* Perform other duties as requested by the Athletic Director or designee.
The Women's Volleyball Head Coach must conduct him/herself in accordance with the Centenary College Athletic Code of Conduct as well as the Constitution and Bylaws of the NCAA and member conferences. He/she must abide by all applicable College policies, rules and regulations. LOCAL AND REGIONAL CANDIDATES ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY SINCE TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSE PROVISIONS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS POSITION.
Qualifications:
Candidate should have prior coaching experience; high level of familiarity with intercollegiate athletics and NCAA rules and regulations; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; high degree of self-motivation; relevant Bachelor's degree, required. Prior college level coaching experience and relevant Master's Degree preferred.

The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics regularly hires part-time coaches in the areas of Baseball, Track & Field/Cross Country, Tennis and Volleyball. We seek to expand the pool from which we consider persons for these positions. Coaches selected from this pool are hired on conditional contracts to coach in a given academic year. These contracts are conditioned on continued adequate budgetary support. Appointment in subsequent academic years is possible, but not guaranteed.
Desired Quilifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Demonstrated successful coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, or club levels. Commitment to the academic and athletic success of the student-athlete. Good communication skills and administrative abilities necessary. Demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment. A Bachelor's degree in physical education or related field.
Duties:Serve as assistant coach for an NCAA Division II program. The University belongs to the CCAA Conference. Under the direction of the head coach the assistant coach will assist in the promotion of the program. Responsibilities include, assisting in practices, games/matches, recruiting, ordering equipment, scheduling, gathering and recording of statistical information, and fund-raising. The Assistant Coach is responsible for enforcement of institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations relevant to CSLA Intercollegiate Athletics.
