My daughter has been asked to play up to 18's team this year for club. She is in the 2010 class. How could this possibly effect her chances for recruiting? The 18's will have a better setter and coaches.

Hi there, in response to your question, I think in alot of ways it will be good for her to play up. I've been a coach for over 21 years, and my own daughter has played up many times. As long as she is close to the level of play of the team itself, I think her chances of being recruiting are just as good as if she played with her own age group.

I would think that playing up would actually help her chances. Better coaches and better competition should lead to improved skills. As long as playing at this level doesn't get into her head when playing in other leagues and on the school team.

I'm surprised Manzi has chimed in on this one.

Gimme some background on her...position..volley history, etc.

Just because she's asked to play up on a team, doesn't really affect how recruiters would view her. If she's a starting OH1, MB1, Opp or L with mediocre and average stats, then people will just say that she's a good player. If she can hang with the big girls and hit .350 consistently or have 18 digs a match, then she'll turn heads.

Would she rather be the best player on a lower leve team or the worst player on an all star team?
