Cobra outdoor system? - 05-30-2008, 02:56 PM

Is this still the best outdoor system for a reasonable amount of money? The other decently rated systems are the Park and Sun Classic and 2000 models. I don't think I can find any of them locally, so I'll have to order anyways, so who has opinions on which is best?

Thanks in advance.

Also, is this pricing still current?

Cobra Nets - 06-01-2008, 11:12 PM

I have 17 of them and some are now almost ten years old. Newer models are better quality and have a much better carrying bag. I use them on grass and sand and have no problems with them.
Not sure if the price is still current though, since I doubt VBLI has sold too many of them. The owner of the company lives here and stocks them locally(Phoenix/Mesa AZ). He quit sponsoring my big tournament in Rocky Point, Mexico(with 80 teams) because he was not selling them from my tournament. Since he never set up a booth or provided any information/prices on them, no one knew he was there or could purchase them. And no one bought them since I was providing them already.

But the product is very good and lasts a long time with ease of setup and portability.
Only recommendations I have are to buy an 8 pound sledgehammer and cut the handle down to 18 inches and carry in the bag to set the spikes, and replace the rope boundaries with 1" tape boundaries you can purchase online.

Luis

Thanks for the reply.

I won't be using the net for tournaments or anything, but I would like to have a nice net for when we do play in the backyard. Even though it's played in the backyard... it's far from picnic ball

It depends on where you live. If you are up here in new england, we have a lot of rocks in the ground where you aren't going to always be able to drive the spike in. I also am curious if you'd want to aerate your yard with those spikes.

OuttaTown, how well do the holes close up after you remove the spikes?

The lack of "guy wires" is a really neat benefit. The net heights have seemed a touch low when I've played in tournaments using this system but overall, they seem to be high quality durable nets.
