Less confusion would be good. I like the idea of a universal rating system! But how to do it? What kind of criteria would be used. Do we still get grades like we are in high school. Man my grades having changed, still getting C's. OR Something like a 1-10 rating. That way you can always raise the bar? Do you measure acuracy percentages? Velocity of hits? What?

well, most of the vb world rates teams not players. A Yankee C+ would be the worst player on a USAV B team. There are several USAV teams in Yankee, and many are going to NO for the Adult Champs.
I kinda like Yankees system, although its oft debated... even among Yankee players/members. It allows you to create teams to play lots of levels and allows an individual to play every weekend if they'd like.
I like the fact that the ratings are policed by the members, they can 'suggest' a re rate and an official will verify it by watching that particular player. This way if someone is good and should move up, they have to. Keeps the games fair and competition consistent.
Rating VB players is pretty subjective, as there are different positions. A setter or DS/Libero is probably not going to pound the ball as hard as a big outside hitter, but is just as important and probably just as or more skilled. Yankee system judges players based on several essential vb areas (1-10) and allows you to double your best and drop your worst. It allows you to be a position player etc.
