Just went out to Newport yesterday and played beach doubles. They had 19 nets set up and 4 or mostly 5 teams on those nets. You are talking about almost 200 people paying to play volleyball yesterday. They can't add anymore nets so it looks like popularity may be increasing in the RI area.

I think what people are trying to say Dex, is that the East Coast is a rather large area. And so yes, apparently in New Jersey wherever jsvba was located there may have been a decrease in popularity. That could have been a decrease in the popularity of volleyball or possibly it was that Michael's lack of motivation in running the tournaments was evident and therefore having an impact on their success. Aka. since he wasn't so interested they sucked.

Point is that is one set of tournaments, and there are others that are extremely well attended in other regions along the east coast.

Actually our new friend Mike said two things:

A: He felt the popularity of his tournaments was going down.

B: There are several venues in the same Jersey Shore area competing for the same players. He felt his organization was no longer relevant. Thus he fell victim to some healthy competition.

Therefor I'll will sumize that there are more players in Jersey who are playing in more tournaments.... just not Mike's and after 20+ years of doing it he just doesn't want to compete against other promoters with more energy, technology and resources.

That's 3 separate occurances of stating the same thing. Do you not realize that we all can read each an every post so that restating the same thing over and over again and just directing it toward different people is pretty pointless? More over the volume of your replies does not increase their validity.

Set10 is right, Jersey sucks (with the exception of East Rutherford... GO DEVILS!!!). Have to take a right to turn left... crazy, jug-handle-having state.

I think the points of East coast 2's being "dead" and volleyball decreasing in popularity EVERY year have been appropriately refuted in this thread.

No one here has really found much to support those claims. Therefore, I would conclude that volleyball is as popular as it ever was if not, more; AND that East Coast 2's have not died.
