Completely irrelivent.... But I just read that - and went... "Geek"

Then I went "oh crap... I'm the geek - I got the dumb joke"

Now I feel like a geek too... Damn you and your computer humor... (I bet only glenn and maybe NERT get it too...)

Just this past Saturday I watch a group of nationals players actually fight with the captain, they won every game up until they started bickering. One player had a point, the team had seven players three girls, four men. The one guy played a total of 10 minutes per game when all the other players played the rest. The male that sat out was one of the better players and I actually understood his point. But, the level of play and testosterone level was so high it only served to cause them argue when one player had a really good point.

Witnessed... HA! - 12-27-2006, 02:23 PM

I think everyone at the last grass tournament witnessed my story of fighting on the court. I played with this guy who clearly had an abnormally sized stick lodged somewhere in his backside area, and who all day would be yelling and fighting and cursing with me and everyone in our pool. At the end of the day we weren't speaking to each other, much less calling the ball or anything.

The worst part is that my partner was actually a decent player, and I was sure going into the day that we'd place in the top 3. But by noon, I was looking to throw in the towel and go back to the city. (I didn't thankfully, and we ended up placing 2nd even without speaking. But that's not the point...)

Moral of the story: doesn't matter how good a player is that you go to a co-ed 2's tournament with, if you don't trust them, like them, respect them, you're going to have a bad day. Pick your partners wisely.

I've played vb for about 20 years, beach doubles to indoor sixes, and I've seen it more with boyfriend/girlfriend and husband/wife teams than with parent/child.

Just this past week, I put in a team for a tourney and one of our players snapped other arguing a jump serve that was being targeted for her was not hard to receive. She received the ball perfect all six times. The problem was the middles weren’t hitting and just dumping. Her arms were lobster red. At no time did she lose her cool or complain. We called a time, which I got nasty looks for and the next serve was out.

Steph is one my heroes!
