How Well Do You Know Your Referees? - 08-31-2006, 10:49 AM

How well do you know your referees?

Some players make it a point to know their referees, or actually socialize with them. So the question is, how well do you know your referees?

We all want to know.

I've reffed with a few, served on boards with many and worked games for others. I've played with a few others, and even went to school or was taught by others...

It never hurts to know your refs - and be on thier good side.

I know most of the refs at our house league pretty good. I also know a grip of the Yankee Refs, maybe only one or two on a first name basis.

At the MC+ tournie this past Sunday, BHDP had a setter who is often a ref for the womens tournaments! So, I am kind of happy I got to talk to him a bit. I think it makes the game a little more fun when you can banter with the refs as well!

Oh Donna.....
I knew her so well. She would call handsets rediciously tight. And I loved her for it. I can't stand those deepdish-bellyscratcher sets. But ALAS! she has accepted a job in the midwest and is gone.

Other than Donna, I'm bitter towards most refs being awful so I tend to not socialize with them.
