Guess all the pro beach players are "bumpers" then...

Beach volleyball isn't a positional sport. If you're a "setter" on a double's team, your partner must be really quick to cover the whole court while you wait at net for the pass.

Not entirely true. Once the ball is served or hit, you know whether you're the setter or the hitter. Also, you can become the setter by being the blocker... knowing that your partner is a better hitter than you are.

Since when were we talking about beach volleyball?

I can't remember the last time I saw someone wear kneepads at the beach...

Heck - or see someone get liberoed out at the beach!

(this is me saying, i can throw irrelivant things into post too)

Lastly - unless we're talking about kneepads w/ patella strabs, lets end this conversation instead of derailing it more.

We'd make an ugly doubles team as a MH and an Setter...

That's why threes rock!!!! All you'd need is a libero and you'd have an unstoppable 3's team. LOL.

Oh right knee pads... I don't wear them. What's a bruise or two.... or three or four...... And I just ignore the pain in my knee. That's my solution although I could see it not working for everyone.

I saw a guy at a tournament this weekend who had a system that was strapped above and below his knee cap and solid behind (I think). My guess is that's probably pretty supportive and would offer some level of protection to the side of your knees impact wise.

I know I usually get banged up either right above my knee cap or on the inside (I can't quit my old goalie instincts, I still lay my lower leg on the floor when digging or passing a low ball). I don't know where you guys get bruised but for me it's rarely right on the cap.

So I was going to post a picture of my knee showing where I get bruised... but then I looked at the picture and decided maybe not. LOL. my major bruise is just below my knee, more on the inside. For those of you who would like to see my gross knee, here is a link to the picture.

I use the knee bands under the knee pads and that seems to be working fine. Someone also suggested using prewrap and tape to make the knee strap. In doing this you don't have a band that will hurt when it gets pushed into your knee.

As I said, the knee band under the knee pad seems to work well. (at least for now)
