Proper Volleyball Care - 02-15-2006, 07:51 AM

I was wondering, balls being over $50.00 each, is there any proper care, cleaning or storage methods I should use?

Well, try to treat them nice.... no kicking, etc. Moisture is a biggie for indoor balls, try to keep it dry. If you brought it to open play and now you're going to stick it in your stinky gym bag... be sure to remove it, or get a bag that has a seperate area for the ball. If it for whatever reason gets dirty just use a damp cloth to wipe it down. If your going to fly with it, deflate it... the luggage compartment of the plane is not pressurized the way the cabin is. You might also want to take some of the pressure out of it if it's going to sit for a while.

I'm sure there's some guru out there who's got some other magic, but that's all I've got.

PS if you do some looking you can get top notch balls for way cheaper than $50!

I've looked into this, and cant find a thing on volleyball care, manufacturers are not providing this information. I think it's mostly because after about 3 months of general use most balls wear significantly and any chemicals or water will damage the ball.

P.S. Shop around $50.00 is a rip to a good ball.

well, beefcake, all i can suggest is you don't take your pro touch out of the gym or have it accidentally fall into the pool. it will just get heavy and dirty..true story. i was stuck with my wet, dirty balls. not fun
