Last summer and even as earlier as a few weeks ago I've seen people wearing sand socks while playing on grass. I'm not a fan of the idea in general mainly because it's dangerous. The possibility for a twisted ankles, ACL and other injury's are very high, where as on sand no problem.
Is there such a thing as grass socks?

hey glenn, it's 1417 right now when i respond. not sure about grass socks. but an acquaintance of mine has what's called grass sneakers( he still was sliding) dex
ps, what you suggest glenn for playing 2's on grass? barefoot? regular socks? maybe just good sneakers? on grass, i've tried sandals, barefooted, just socks, sneakers too, but not sure what is best on grass?
when the sand is hot, how you get used to the hot sand? in the avp, the avp is watered down, but in regular play, how did one get used to the hot sand???? 1422 now | | | | | | | | Rookie

That at least will help subdue the direct skin/sand heat discomfort. | | | | | | | | Player

Comments? | I'm not sure how your footwear is going to affect your acl unless you think barefoot is going to cause a knee hyper extension or internal rotation, but anyway, I do agree that ankle injuries indoor and on grass are more common than on sand.
In any event, I typically play sand barefoot and grass I play in sneaks with an ankle brace on my left ankle.
I think you could design socks for sand but anything I've seen so far would probably cause you to have less friction than more and may result in sliding. I don't think anyone ever has a sliding problem in sand so that might be why they're more prevalent.
I've never used sand sox but I imagine they have a variety of benefits: no drying out of your toes from sand, no chaffing later in the day if you can't wash the sand out, insulation against hot sand, awesome tan line around the ankle, getting oggled by the ladies because you look so cool. The list goes on...

They're pretty sweet shoes, but, I've seen them mainly used for every day use. They build the muscles in your feet to make your feet/shins stronger. I don't know about actually using them in competition though.
Sand socks on grass?
The neoprene would wear down, they're not meant for abrasive and hard contact. So, the answer is No...they're not good for grass. Just go barefoot. | | | | | | | | Player

Some Sand Socks have a flat nonabrasive bottom making a wet slick surface that a person could fall. As for ACL injuries, in our sport they mainly occur because of missed landing and poor foot wear. Therefore, this is why I ask.
As for the coolness of wearing something to protect your feet from bird crap, cuts and scraps well I can tell you nasty feet is not a plus with the ladies. Girls that watch / play VB want their boys to be good players no matter the tools they used to get there. We all have our tricks some think are "Not cool" but they get the job done for us. Quote:

Two guys on the court wearing socks were all comfy. All I kept thinking was why didn't I bring mine. Quote:
