1. Repeat, repeat, repeat and repeat. Repitition is the best way to learn something, to remember something.

2. Watch others do what you want to do properly and emulate it. By watching someone do what you want to do properly not only teaches you what the act looks like when its done properly but it also shows you the end result.

Do you have one?

well this is from an old baseball coach, but with some clarity it can apply to vball as well.

When in doubt, Hit it Out!!

Obviously in vb we don't want to hit out, but its meaning is when you are doubting yourself or your team's ability to win the game just keep it simple....Smack the @#$%% out of it!

A previous team of mine would fold once the game got down to the last couple of points and tip nearly every set because they didn't want to make hitting errors. Needless to say we lost a large number of close games that we were the better team in.

In trying to come up with a coaching philosophy for my upcoming CAP course, I outlined some important thoughts on every facet of coaching. I thought up this idea that I plan on using as a quote and think it can help anyone involved in coaching and dealing with parents:

"Always treat a player as if the parent is watching, and always treat a parent as if the player is watching."

I got this quote from a basketball coach and it's probably used in many other sports and life:

"Success is a journey, not an end result."
