Volleyball Cheers - 03-26-2007, 12:23 PM

This weekend I had the pleasure of playing with a volleyball coach and three or so of his players. Since they're a regular team, they participated in a few cheers when certain plays would happen. For example, a hard driven ball that went untouched or carromed off of the dig way off the court would be lead by a "Tick, tick..." and answer with a "Boom" by the rest of the players.

In other tournaments I have played in, groups of players have just cheered loudly for every point they've earned and gotten REALLY fired up when a big play has happened.

My question is, what are some of your team's cheers or do you just think they're dumb?

I personally think cheers are not my thing.
That being said... being a coach for so long, I notice that almost all of the more successful teams have that bond. I think it builds team communication, which is the cornerstone for a team's success.

Some cheers I've heard/done...

E-C-A (ace backwards)
Shingle-shingle-roof

quote from boondock saints... (person who blocks) "Where's he going?" (everyone else) "NOWHERE"

normally my teams are just loud and annoying as shit... that works wlel too

The "tick tick boom" reminds me of the girls volleyball team from Billerica. Ain't that Strazz's hometown!

I really like the

"Tick, Tick, BOOM!"

and

"Shingle, Shingle, ROOF!"

Those are really cool and funny and probably really annoying to the opposing team (which is, of course, why I like them!)

I dig it
