the best habits... to relax, to have fun, try the best but no stress. Volleyball is a fun game, not a dead or alive situation. think of it to play for fun rather than just play for winning. we tend to play better and have a clearer vision when we r enjoying the games.

...and be nice and encouraging to ur teammates. being grumpy doesn't help. a team that's A BIT less competitive but fun is sometimes better than a great team that stressed u out.

mindset always comes before skill.

my 2 cents.

The very best habit a player can have on the court - 09-17-2007, 08:54 PM

As a coach, an official and a player I have played and watched the game from several different angles. The very best habit a player can have is to have their serve down in such a way that even when the game is on the line: game, match point, they can trust their serve will go over the net and into the big box on the other side of the net.
Too many games go down the tubes simply because the players are unable to get their serves in.
The players need to practice their serves while under stress of some kind so that in a tight situation they won't get unnerved. Coaches: have serving drills that have ramifications for when the serves don't go in. Give them the drive to get that serve in. If you have a good server, have them work on serving tough to location.

I think the best habits volleyball players should have are:
1: to play all out...give it your all on every point as if its the last. Often people take games and teams for granted bc they think they deserve to win and then the teams end up beating them.

2: maintain their volleyball poker face. and by this i mean if ur upset with urself bc u messed up or ur team for whatever reason or coach, the crowd, whatever dont show it on ur face or with the body language bc that just sends a red flag to the other team that you are not in the game mentally and they will begin to single u otu and pick on u and make u feel even worst.
