What Is The Dumbest Thing You Have Ever Done On The Court?

We all make mistakes. Sometimes our mistakes are simple errors in judgement and sometimes Natural Selection! What is the dumbest thing you have ever done while on the court?

Here's a few moments that stick out in my volleyball career....

Freshman year - first varsity game I've ever played. I got subbed in for one of the seniors who the coach needed to talk to... Free ball coming over, so I'm pursuing it - following it to the end of the court. Ball should've landed about a foot or two out. However silly me forgot about the height depth and got bopped in the head! Didn't hear the end of that for a while...

Few games later that season I was sitting next to my coach on the bench. One of the seniors on the court was getting very frustrated and wasn't doing well. So she subbed me in so she could give him a quick talk. It was right before the ref blew the whistle so I had to be fast - but i wasn't paying attention. So she grabs my arm and launches me up there going "sub sub sub!!!!!!!". Dumb freshman me wasn't paying to much attention and almost ate it on the floor.

Fun stuff...

Another great one was this season in outdoor reverse co-ed grass. I'm taking off behind the 10' line, but my foot snagged it... My partner is stepping on it, so it kind of jerks me back and I face planted...

I still maintain the opinion I didn't touch the line though... hahaha

I can think of at least one ball coming 'through the window' when I was going to play it with my hands.

I've also twice gotten a nice high slow set, taken a real nice three steps go up, miss the ball and get hit in the head with it. That was a while ago though.

Strazz i have to say.... your stories.... explain alot! lol

but besides the many you know, boob shots..

once during a game i was going after the 2nd ball...of course you know as a setter does... and some other girl was goin for it too, but i kept yelling mine, but silly me, who thinks the setter gets the 2nd ball...not this chick she kept going for it...i went to try and pass the ball and ended up jabbing her right in the stomach...

another time... doing what a setter does... going for the second ball ( silly me )it was a straight shot into the net and i go to dig it out, but the OH went to go for it too...but i got lower than she did and some how im still not sure how it happened... her braces hit my head, which made a huge cut across my forehead. that one hurt!!

i dont set regularly, so when i do and i get to the back row i tend to forget im setting....a few times i have just watched the ball ball hit the floor thinking why isnt the setter getting the ball, then realizing that oh man im the setter..talk about feeling stupid

Haha.. I've done that before... On the flip side I've been thinking to myself "why is that kid pissed I set a quick? why wasn't her covering"...

Oh yea - I was sopost to be hitting in this league...

subbing in a coed league, I was setting. I went to set a pass that was very close to the net, using one hand knuckle flip. Got the ball up, but snagged my index finger in the net. My momentum carried me sideways parralel to the net, which made the net slice through my finger side to side under the knuckle. Time out. Put a bandaid and tape over it, keep on setting. Won the match too.

While playing a known around beach game, I was staring at a player on another court, the ball was passed to me and well I came too only when the ball was bouncing off my feet. I get distracted easily!

The girl is now my girlfriend!
