Red face Where are you guys getting your VB Clothes? - 10-24-2005, 05:15 PM

Ok this is one mostly for the guys. What happened to the VB shorts market? All I can find are board shorts which I don't like as they are soo long that they go over my knees or shorts that are $40. $40 for a pair of nylon shorts? WTF is that about? Was I paying that back when I was in HS? I honestly don't remember but I can't see that that was the case.

So anyway all I want is a normal fairly plain pair of nylon shorts. BB shorts are cut too long and I don't like the mesh shorts. Running shorts are the proper length and price is decent but they aren't cut properly and when you get down like you are going to be playing defense they are stretched accross the bottom pretty good (I got a big old jumpin butt).

Do I need to just adjust to the new style or can someone hook me up with a connection to some proper shorts?

Shorts back in the late 80's and 90's (volleyball shorts heyday) were between $32 and $35 a pair for Clubs and Sideouts, unless you hit the discount/irregulars shops and got'em for $15-$20.

Online, try http://www.xelos.com for their watershorts, made from the same materials as their boardshorts, cut in the volleyshorts lengths (18 inches).

Try http://www.killerdana.com for the Quiksilver volleys and shorter-length boardshorts. You can get some basic Quiksilver Manic boardshorts for under $40 (red, green, pewter, and black). Quiksilver Edition makes 2 volleys in the traditional length, too.

Watch out for running shorts - they tend to be single-stitched in the seat and also prone to woodburn.

Have you tried the under armour shorts? I'm kinda gaga over under armour, and yea it's a bit spendy but it's so comfortable and you never get that damp clammy feeling... ever.

If you wear boardshorts indoors, make sure you don't have any exposed metal zippers or rivets, as these can carve a nice trench into the wood.
