Where Are You Playing This Fall? - 09-03-2007, 02:20 PM

It’s almost time to say goodbye to the summer and start the 2007 indoor season. The question of the week is where are you playing this fall? Tell us about your previous or current first day experiences, we want to know. The best posts will receive a limited edition VBLI warm up shirt.

Volleyball this Fall - 09-03-2007, 03:09 PM

Where am I playing this Fall? I am working on new leagues to be held at a local volleyball facility called SportsBridge...whose mission is to connect young athletes to life. They have a full youth program, and wanted my help adding adult athletics to open time slots in their 8-court indoor hardcourt facility. I am organizing leagues, advertising them out to the masses (I have cultivated a volleyball email list of nearly 1,000 people in Colorado). We hope to fill up these leagues with some fun and competitive players--giving players more play time for their money compared to anywhere else in the area. Plus, ALL proceeds go to the facility. Of course, I plan to play in many of the leagues. We are starting out with 4s leagues as building blocks. Women's, men's, coed, and reverse coed 4s in competitive and rec level play. I also plan to organize some regular indoor drop-in during the work week for people to stop by for a couple of hours and play at SportsBridge. Largely, this is "moms" looking for time to fit in some volleyball.

Fall vball fix - 09-03-2007, 06:11 PM

Plan on picking up a sand league at Scottsdale Ranch park now that the weather should cool those 110 plus degree days down to something bearable in the evenings. That and my 2 indoor coed sixes leagues should cover my vball fix for fall.
And I already have 60 teams registered for Rocky Point for Oct 20, 2007

Playing til I die,

Ball in PA - 09-04-2007, 07:37 AM

I will be playing in a men's BB indoor 6's League in West Chester, PA. And probably subbing for a co-ed B team in Phoenixville, PA. I'll also try to hit some tournaments over in Deptford, NJ at the 5 Points Sports Complex.

I will be playing for the current and previous NECVL Division II champions, Fairfield University. However this year, we will be moving up to DI to continue our reign at the top in this more competitive conference of teams.

I am going to play primarily in Yankee tournaments and at the CTSC in Woodbridge.

The CTSC has both open play night and a coed league to play in. I played there in the summer league and am looking forward to the competition in the fall league. The competition there in the fall is very good, as I have subbed for other teams previously.

My favorite form of competition is playing in the Yankee tournaments held throughout New England. That venue has really helped me improve my game and has taught me everything I know about organized play. The way I play, and view volleyball has changed drastically in just 1/2 season of playing Yankee tournaments. I look forward to playing more and continuing my improvement.

The Beach isn't closed yet - 09-04-2007, 11:13 AM

Indoors? Indoors? The beach isn't closed yet!!! There are still some tournaments left I will be playing in on the beach. I will still be playing in Tidewater Volleyball Association events on Virginia Beach Oceanfront (they run through the end of September), and I also will be making the trip to Hawaii in Nov to play in the EVP World Championships! I might even make a layover in South Cal to play in a CBVA event on my way to Hawaii.
But I guess it must be time to move indoors, so I will be playing with TVA, as they have 5 courts of play, and best of all, cold adult beverages.

I play several places. After sand leagues at Gatsbys in Columbus I will start at Lifetime. Or sports Barn which ever has the best league play on Tues. We have a sponser so we like to play then go have adult beverages!!! Sun I play in two leagues one in the afternoon and one in the evening. On Mon. and Wed. and Sat. I play Wallyball. On Thurs. I play open gym at the "Y" That leaves Fri. night for the church league!! Some people call me Volleyball Central. If they want a game they call me. In between leagues I play at a school in Granville on Sun. There are also several open gyms in Col. I play after or before my games. I also play at the OUL and help scrimmage with the girls. I have been playing for 30 some years I am over fifty and can hang with the rest of them!! They can never guess my age! Love the game...Husband or volleyball???? When do we play??
