Where Are You Playing This Fall? - 09-08-2006, 10:56 AM

With the winter season quickly approaching everyone is gearing up to play indoors. So where are you playing? Do you play co-ed, college or club?

We'll be moving outdoors for the fall and winter. Too hot for outdoor sand here in summer.
But will still play indoors 3 nights a week also.

Playing til I die,

I thought I was gonna play on a league on Monday nights in Manchester, but I heard a rumor that our team leader couldn't get a team. Hmmm Tuesdays I was going to take off but since I am not gonna play on Mondays I will probably play in Meriden. Wednesdays is New Haven, moving inside soon. Thursday is Woodbridge, Friday is Cheshire (the new mens league). And then weekends maybe some open and for sure some Yankee tournaments. I'd like to play some C level tournies because so far I have only played C-. I'm just hoping my body can keep up with me!!

CT Sports Center Thursday Coed
Hopefully lots of Yankee tournaments on the weekends!
Maybe Friday night @ Cheshire Park & Rec if it flies.

Oh, and I'll have to start going to Wethersfield HS Open Gym on Sundays once that's open again.

Great Lakes Region USAV Men's A/AA on the weekends. Plus a coupla open gyms during the week.

I quit playing leagues roughly a decade ago. Every time I feel like maybe I'll go ahead and play in one again, I just fill in on a buddy's team a few times and remember again why I hate leagues.

Well last winter was just insane with 4 league nights plus club practice plus tourneys plus pickup plus open gyms plus subbing on other leagues when I could. I remember times where I would run from work to sub on one league and then drive an hour to play on a another league....

So this winter I'm trying to keep it down to 2 competitive league nights plus club plus training for 2's in anticipation of next summer.

I dig it

I'm with KVB....for me I will be playing on one league (women's 6's BB in Princeton, NJ, where I'm learning a 6-2 and how to hit middle) and a BB USAV club team on the weekends.....the rest of the time is going to be spent in the gym training for the next 2's season. Maybe here and there, in addition to one night a week of leagues I'll go to open ball also. I also would like to run a 5k race this winter, so I will be training for that as well.

Preparing for our season in the spring. There is still lots of beach and grass volley to be had to work on my mad ball control in the 619. But, the main focus is to get my game back up to so.cal indoor standards and keep my starting libero spot.
