Motherlode - Aspen, CO - 08-31-2006, 06:28 PM

Playing the Motherlode event in Aspen, CO. It is one of the nation's oldest (34 yrs) and largest (64 team mens open, 500+ total) tournaments in the country. My partner and I will be competing in the men's open (sand) division. We should have a top ten seed and will look to improve on last years 9th place finish. Some AVP player participate, including this year Hans Stolfus and Jim Nichols. It's a great event and good time, with teams from all over the country - from California to Connecticut. This is going to be my third year playing the event. Here's their site:

If the weather holds out for another weekend of doubles in the sand, I'll be in North Haven at noon on saturday.

If anyone is interested in a king of the beach style game - message me.

I'll field that question...

There is a sand court at Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield. There are a few people in our circle, including JPMac, that work there, so we get together to play there whenever we can. Apparently there was/is a VP that is an avid volleyball fan so he had the court built. Decent court, nice sand, they just need to move the poles out a couple feet so they're not right next to the lines.

I am probably not playing this weekend, unless I can find some random pickup game. But who cares since I will be in CALIFORNIA!!!!!

As the Rev stated - it's at my location of employment. It's a nice court, thought the net needs some routine draining and raising.

It's right off of route 5 in north haven, exit 60 off the merritt or exit 12 (13 maybe?) off of 91.

As I said, if the weather holds out - we'll be there. Drilling at a minimum, playing if enough show.

No volleyball for me this weekend. I'm heading North for some fun with Air Diney and NERT. My only chance to play would be the open gym when I get home on Sunday night. But they are refinishing the floors this week and so we can't play
