The question is with is more competitive?

I think indoor is more competitive but outdoors has the elements which can be brutal....

Outdoor doubles and indoor 4's. I play more that way and rely less on others' abilities.

monty, i have to disagree with you. watching a good vb match(like any sport you watch, sometimes the matches aren't as exciting) but i enjoy watching beach vb on tv every weekend that i am home.

i have to disagree with you, your oppinion it's to easy to score in beach vb? my oppinion with that remark, you be able to score on every set you get and pick up every ball on defense AND you have be a player higher than a level bb saying that comment right???? dex

Dude, Monty is an international Pro Indoor player.... I think he also plays for the Scottish National Team or something. He's rediculously good. Search his posts and find his videos.

I agree 100% with everything Chris says here in this post. I too play indoor during the winter while counting the days till beach/2's season starts. This time for me is considered my "off season" during which my goal is to train for doubles.
I wish there were places that you could pratice your 2's game during winter but there is no where has the court time. It wouldn't even have to be a indoor sand court....just to have a court available to play 2 on 2 would be awesome!
During the summer there is a rec. center that lets us have their gym on Fri. nights to play 2's, but there is no air conditioning. We play there anyway, just because we're volleyball obessessed!

I've played indoor 6's now for well over 15 years, and after making the transition to outdoor doubles (sand), I now spend all winter long playing indoor 6's while dreaming of summer's outdoor 2's. And during the summer, I find myself fretting having to go back indoors because the summer game is so much more fun... for me.

my 2 cents.

I disagree with Monty....I think beach volleyball is very exciting. You still get to see amazing hits and huge blocks....plus if beach is your game you get to learn alot from watching the pros. I would much rather attend the AVP or watch the AVP on TV then any type of wm's or men's 6's match.
Women's beach volleyball has been boring though....I'm tired of seeing the same team win tournament after tournament. I was very exctied to hear that at the AVP in alabama this past weekend JJJ and Davis knocked May and Walsh into the contenders bracket, but they still ended up getting to the finals and winning. The men's side of the AVP is much more exciting with a different team dominating every tournament.

I heard the team that beat May and Walsh has done it twice already this year. Wow.

In the winter I play indoor men's doubles on a hard surface. We also play on a full size courts so making sure your hits are in is a little easier but it does take away a little bit from sand lag when playing D.

The only team to beat May and Walsh in the finals so far has been Rachel Wacholder and Elaine Youngs which they have done twice this year, but by Jenny Johnson Jordan and Annette Davis knocking them into the contenders bracket this past weekend, it just goes to show that other teams are nipping and May and Walsh's heels, IMHO. They may not be dominating the women's side much longer. It will be interesting to see what happens.
This past tournment was the first time in a long time May and Walsh did not go through a tournament undefeated and were knocked into the contenders bracket.
