Hard wood floors all the way

sportcourts suck.... you can't slide at all on them and if they arn't put down right they kinda pop and move around

I agree with the preferring outdoors.

But EG...you can't say your don't have any preferance...would you rather be playing back on that hard, tile-covered, concrete floor of the old Middle School or the nice hardwood floors of the new one?

Assuming your answer is the new school, that would denote a preference.

Yes I realize that tile-covered/concrete wasn't one of the choices, but it is my belief that those were simply examples presented not a static dataset of choices.

No perference - 11-09-2006, 01:29 PM

Good point Rev, but I can honestly say I really have no preference for the type of floor I play on. The type of gym floor I play on really does not affect my game. Hardwood, Sportcourts, ot tile covered concrete are all ok to me.

My only preferences come with the outdoor game. Sand over grass, any day.

Indoors, regarding floors, I go by my motto S.T.F.U.A.P.V!!!

I am more inclined to gripe about leaky ceilings leaving puddles on the floor in the gym, rather than the floor itself, but I digress....

Sportcourt or synthetic.

I've got no problem sliding on these surfaces. It's wood floors that I get the nastiest burns from, or that bring me to a screeching halt when I dive onto them.

More importantly though, for some reason wood floors are harder on my knees. After roughly 17 years of playing several times a week and not taking better care of them, my knees are getting pretty creaky regardless. But I dread playing an all-day tourney on a wood floor. I'll be a little tight after playing on Sportcourt or other synthetic, but I'll barely be able to walk after playing on wood floors.

I've lost more hair and skin on hardwood floors... And the places I've played that are hardwood have typically been makeshift vball courts with unclear lines (e.g. back red is out blue along the sides are out, ignore the black lines). Not a big fan.

I like the court we have in woodbridge (when it's clean). I don't dive anywhere near as much as I used to but I get great sliding with my Nike Dry-fit shirts.

The court at the last scramble was amazing for me. I got great traction when playing but it also had good sliding properties. No seams either. I am guessing this was a synthetic????

As far as synthetics and sportscourts, there are going to be huge variations depending on manufacturer and installer.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

Personally give me hard wood.

I'll deal with the others, but If I was rich hard wood would be my choice.

Sport Court is the best for me. but like was said before, they must be installed correctly. I've seen some horrible looking sport court and it looked like each tile could hold a puddle of water and the seams were almost an eighth-inch apart.

I slide much better on Sport Court and almost every gym around here is covered in it. We have a Sport Court retailer very close by. We even have a bar around here with Sport Court volleyball courts and they are beautiful.

Hardwood floors, like what was also said, are covered in multi colored lines and it gets confusing. Most places around here have volleyball specific courts to play on without all the extra lines for that other sport (basketball).
