Hello, I am new to the forum. My name is Will and I'm from Queens. I have been playing for 6 years now, a mix between varsity in high school, intramurals in college, and a 4 years of beach in the eevb league in babylon. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to play much this year but, am interested in joining the volleyball in the park tournament with my girlfield. I was curious to know if someone can define what an AA/A/BB/B skill level is. I want to play but don't want to look foolish there. Also, I plan to stick around and look out for events or if anyone is interested in a pick up game on the weekends, I have a net. Thanks for reading! | | | | | | | | Super Moderator

Aloha! Welcome to the boards. I'm originally from Babylon and am now from CT. I've been to a couple of tournaments that Volleyball in the Park has run. If you've got decent outdoor experience try A, especially if you and your partner play often. You can always talk to glenn and ask his opinion on where you should play. Another good idea is to ask around... maybe people you are/have played with have also played in a VIP tourney.
Good luck, and you'll probably see a bunch of people who are member at some of the tourneys over the summer so keep your eyes open. | | | | | | | | Moderator

There are other threads that you can search for that will define the levels. Unfortunately they are also subjective and will vary from region to region.
B is the weakest division and generally looks like Rec ball. Most tournaments don't have this division or it is a Just for Fun type of league. BB gets more organized and skilled. As you approach AA/Open, you may find current or ex college players and people who have gotten sponsorships.
Head on out to the park and play or watch and you'll quickly find out where you belong.
There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
