Siesta Key Hawaiian Tropic Tour this weekend!

The second stop of the HAWAIIAN TROPIC BEACH VOLLEYBALL WINTER SERIES presented by the Sunshine State Outdoor Volleyball Association will be held this weekend, DECEMBER 10-11, at the beautiful beach of SIESTA KEY! Over $2,500 in cash and prizes for the top three teams in all divisions! Come to play, and stay to party! Play both days and get a free SSOVA t-shirt!

The turnout was great for the first event- over 75 teams- and we are excited that this one will be even bigger and better! The weather report is sunny skies for both days- here is all the information that you will need. Hope to see you at the beach!

1. Registration- is available online at http://www.hawaiiantropicinvitational.com/registration.html. Online registration will be available until Friday, 12/9 at 5:00 PM. Walk-Up registration is also available, but there is NO WALK-UP REGISTRATION FOR MEN'S AND WOMEN'S OPEN PLAY! The reason is that we seed the double elimination tournament ahead of time and the seeding could be thrown off by a late entry. We did have to up our entry fee from $40 to $50 a team for all levels, we really didn't want to do it but until we get more sponsors we need to bring in a little more income from entries!

2. Player Party- will be held at Gilligan's Restaurant and Bar (5253 Ocean Blvd in Siesta) on Saturday night from 7:00 PM to close. After a hard day of playing, come throw back a few beverages, with 2 for 1 drink specials and a free buffet!

3. Host Hotel- will be the Tropical Breeze Resort, a short walk from both the playing venue and the player party at Gilligan's! We got a great player rate of $86 for double occupancy or 40% off any room. The resort is located at 5150 Ocean Blvd, Siesta Key FL 34242. Call 1-800-300-2492, and ask for Kyna- tell her you are with SSOVA Volleyball to receive the discount.

4. AVPNext- Memberships are required for ALL players. If you don't already have a membership, you can get one on site for $10, which is half-off since the memberships are only good until the end of the calendar year. If you are a member please be sure to bring your membership card for verification purposes.

5. Play Format-

OPEN- level play is double elimination, 2 out of 3 games. The first two games are to 21, third game to 15, win by two, just like the pros. We will be starting Open play at 8:00 AM from now on to try to finish as much of the event as possible in one day! Open players should check in between 7:00-7:30 to receive court assignments. Please realize that with limited daylight there is a possiblity of open levels (particularly Men) continuing on Sunday. Our goal is to finish at least to the semi-finals by Saturday evening.

CO-ED OPEN- Will start at 10:00 AM on Sunday and use double elimination format. The reason we are doing this is because some men's open players are playing co-ed open as well, and if they make it to Sunday (as several teams did last event) it makes things harder to run. Don't forget winners take $100 and if you play both days you get a free SSOVA t-shirt!

ALL OTHERS- Will start at 8:30 AM- Men's and Women's on Saturday and Co-Ed on Sunday. Format is round robin pool play, games played to 21 win by two, with the top teams in each pool advancing to a single elimination playoff bracket. Top three teams in each division will receive prizes compliments of SMACK Sportswear.
