Rocky Mountain State Games Offer Grass and Beach Volleyball COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 14, 2006) – The Rocky Mountain State Games is encouraging adult and youth volleyball teams from around Colorado to register soon for the 2006 tournaments, to be held Aug. 5-6 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
New for 2006, the Games will include both grass and beach volleyball venues for both junior (high school seniors and under) and adult teams. Grass teams can consist of teams with four to eight players while beach volleyball teams can have two players. Teams can either be all-male or all-female.
“We welcome volleyball back to the State Games, and get ready this year to compete in 2007 in the National State Games volleyball division,” said John Kessel, Rocky Mountain State Games volleyball commissioner and director of membership development and disabled programs for USA Volleyball. “We have divisions for juniors and adults, for sand and grass players, all played with Pikes Peak as a backdrop.”
USA Volleyball will sanction the tournament, in which teams are guaranteed three matches in pool play before top teams advance to bracket play. Grass games will be played Aug. 5 at Colorado College. Beach games will be played Aug. 6 at Sharky's Bar & Grill/The Sand Pits.

The Rocky Mountain State Games (RMSG) is a multi-sport festival for Colorado citizens of all ages and athletic abilities. Organized and managed by the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation, the 2006 RMSG will offer competition in 29 sports.
