It all depends on the individual some like organized play while others are just looking to gather and have fun and beers after. I tend to like the organized cause I've had times where I just sat there watching the ball go back and forth in the recreactional play games

Both have their benefits. I think for the most part they are a good compliment.

For players wanting to go to college I think they get more exposure in club ball than high school ball. At least where I am, girls take school ball more serious than they do club though. They feel playing time and positions are owed to them and they don't have to work as hard in club.

I've played both for 3 years now, (this will be my 4th). Highschool pros: you know your teammates better because you all go to the same school and usually are already friends. You compete against rivals teams that you know. you can take pride for your school. Usually girls on the team don't compete with their teammates. Cons: When you play for small schools you don't get much exposer or experiance. Club pros: Scouts. sometime its better competition. traveling! Cons: it takes a while to become a real team because you have to get to know each other and how everyone plays. girls compete for more playing time. It can be intimidating to play with a lot of girls you don't know. I'm not sure I really have a preference though, because for me they are just really different. They both have pros and cons. Its a good question though.

High School is so much easier. I live in a small town so there's not many athletes who just play 1 sport. I play 3 sports already and we can barely make ends meet. I can only imagine if I played club or network. Plus you risk the chance of getting burned out on that sport.

If you want to play in college you have to play club ball. The high school coaches don't have enough time to train you to play, since there season usually starts a couple of weeks after tryouts. Also college coaches are busy during the fall with there own teams and can't come out to see them play. During club season, its the coaches off-season so they do come to the club tournaments. My daughter recently committed to a college and he has never been to one of her high school games. He seen her at several club tournaments.

hrmm... well i would go with Club... the people that are involved in club are more serious about play. Coaches in High School don't always know what they are doing... aka my high school coach. its a good thing she played soccer in college... you also get alot more experience and play with girls that are at a higher level in club. Besides...who doesn't love to travel!?!?! High school is pretty much a good way to stay in shape for the club season... I've played 6 years of club...the only thing you really got to watchout for is those crazy vb mothers and their daughters!!! AAAAHHHH

As has already been stated, there are upsides for both.

At least in my area, if you want to play on your school's varsity team, you will most likely play club as well. There are a couple of high level club teams in the area and pretty much all of the varsity starters for the half a dozen + high schools in the area have been playing club since they were in junior high. If all you've played is school ball, you will not have been given the level of instruction and training that the club teams get. That is the major downfall of school teams across the country. Serious volleyball instruction is severely lacking. Many school coaches know little about the game and even less about how to teach the fundamentals of high level play. (Unless, again, you're in a strong ball area like I am, where most of the coaches are players who've come up through the local clubs, played college ball, and then returned home to coach.)

Playing for school often gets you out of class though. Unlike club ball where you have to actually give up free time in order to go to practice & tournaments.
