Thanks. I'm slowly getting used to the fact that she can't play anymore. Meh.

Tewksbury Wins Again?! - 09-13-2006, 08:33 PM

So onto more recent news...

TEWKSBURY WON AGAINST CENTRAL CATHOLIC (who Nancy Dumond said was the team to beat this year)!! How sick is that? We went to 5 sets again. It was so intense. And they were so good. Ahhhhh. Everyone was playing so well. Except, in the first game, we stunk...a lot. I don't know what's up with my serve because I keep serving it out. WTF. I kinda forget the scores, but this is how it went down:

1) they win 17-25
2) we win 25-21
3) they win 16-25
4) we win 25-23
5) we win (15-13) PS, those are almost right....I'm going from memory.

Intense or what? I think it's the side that we're on. We seem to only win on one specific side of the net. I'm calling it the lucky side from now on. And whenever we go to 5 sets, I'm telling whoever the floor captain is to choose that side. Mhmm.

Hm. My foot is still bruised, and my tendon(?) thinger above my heel has been bothering me, so I'm surprised that I didn't play that sucky.

I NEED TO GET MY SERVES IN. I don't know what's wrong with me. I serve it over, but it's not in. Argh.

Since we won, Nancy Dumond (the old coach who isn't old) is making us cookies. Every time we win she'll make us cookies. And we're gonna win a lot this year. (At least I hope.) Then we'll be fat for the rest of the season. Hahaha. I swear, the only reason we win is so that we can get her cookies.

Just kidding.

Oh yeah! My serving sucked the entire game. I got some in but most out. BUT!...in the last match, it was 13-13 I think. I served it, and it got in. Woot. Then it was game point. And I served. It was definitely going out, but fortunately, a girl reached for it anyway! And they made the mistake! So we won.

That's the best feeling in the world. Winning.

Next game is away at Haverhill.

Hahaha, nice wong, nice!

I was speaking to a few friends and mentioned how well tewksbury was doing.

They laughed - but said they were going to go "see that asian girl, who would easily be a good addition at any position for any DII team"...

They said central would win - i said it'd be close if central won, but I'm pulling for tewks.

Damn straight - good job for pulling through. And make sure you check out ulowell aahah

Haha. At least you've got some faith in us! Thanks!

I haven't gone to see any colleges yet. Ahh, I'm such a slacker.

I love being known as "that Asian girl." That just made my day.

Here's a little something of how Central went down. They messed up though because it was a "they win-we win- situation"..

So we won against Haverhill. Ugh. Serve's out of whack. I need to practice serving in practice, on the game net. Yuck.

It was gross. Four of our Varsity players weren't there because they were saying goodbye to their Spanish Exchange Students. So our coaches made up a game plan to let one of our managers play. (She's a Freshman, by the way.) And the four eventually did get there before the start of the first game, but our coach already handed in the line up. The manager did pretty good. She even got an ace. Good for her.

So yeah, we got beat (11-25) in the first game. Pretty good. I actually got to set (but the pass wasn't there most of the time...) The rotation was all out of whack. One of our outsides/right sides played middle, the manager was confused, etc...etc.. JEEZ!! The other team must have been thinking 'This team beat Central Catholic?' Haha. Then we won the last three matches. Uhm. They were pretty close. 25-22/I forget/26-24. Disgustingly close.

I got to see my friend from Haverhill though! She was on my JOs team. That was pretty sweet. She was also one of the captains so when we went to introduce ourselves for the coin-toss, we shook hands and said our names in a funny, "I know you," sort of way. The lady ref laughed and said, "Aw, they know each other."

I miss her.

We wore our spandex for the first time (us Varsity). Since we have a boy, we decided to wear shorts for home games and spandex for away. Too bad we were dumb and decided to pick ROYAL BLUE for the color. (I wanted navy blue!!!) Can someone say SWASS?

Yeah, thanks.

Next game is at Lawrence.

Er...We have a boy on the girls volleyball team, and we switch off what we wear...

For him. He's uncomfortable in Spandex, so we compromised for him. Swass is "sweaty-ass".

I hope I unconfused you.

Agh! The boy is on our team because my school is dumb and doesn't have a boys volleyball team. So he is allowed to play on our team.

Tewksbury high has no men's program. So for years they've been trying to snag a guy onto the team.

You legally cannot say no to a male player - since they don't offer a men's program.

As the rules stand with the MIAA (massachusetts interscholastic athletic association i believe) males can play. They are STRONGLY SUGGESTED to hit back row only and not play front row. However they never passed the rules banning a guy from attacking in front of the ten foot line.

There were a few hearings about it like four years ago? However the board that shot it down had no volleyballers on it, so it didn't make sense to them why they would want to pass it.
