Smile Greetings from Long Island, New York! - 07-15-2007, 02:42 PM

Hello everybody! My name is Christine and I'm a college senior who is looking to meet a great group of people with whom I could play ball -- whether it be indoors, on the beach, or on the grass. I attend college on Long Island and live in Nassau County, so I'm generally looking to play in that area. Take a look at my profile to find out more about me and most definitely feel free to send me a message and introduce yourself! (I joined this site to network!)

Christine

Welcome to the site. You'll see there are members from all over the country here but it seems like the strongest representation is from Long Island and CT.

The admin, Glenn, is hosting a bunch of tournaments so if you're looking to play 2's or 4's outside, you can see when they are at VBLI PRESENTS - THE 2007 SUMMER SERIES.

Once again, welcome.

Aloha & welcome aboard! There's also saturday morning indoor pickup @ Sporttime in bethpage. There's a link somewhere to that, probably in the links area or something.

Where and what are you studying? I'm originally from Babylon LI (I can't wait to visit.... all I've been talking about for the last four days is bagels!)

Edit: Way to post before reading your profile! Most of that is answered there. Lol

The morning volleyball fills up so be sure to reserve a spot. Call and check to make sure it's still on saturdays as well.

welcome to the newbie. listen to these guys, they know what they're talking about. here's the bethpage site: SportimeSM... Fitness for Real Life.

that's where it's at on li. the guys who run the program are joe and randy. joe is the best setter i've ever seen in my life. and randy's freakin good as well. so, if you feel like taking a clinic - i know they offer them a couple of times a year. otherwise, just hit up the open gym (and definitely call a few days in advance). if you're looking to network and/or look for a team, that's a fantastic place to start.

good luck! and if you need anything... feel free to post

Yeah, but there's a few problems with Chelsea Piers.

1. it's SUPER pricey... not worth it kind of pricey. ya know?

2. it's SUPER snobby... since people pay so much money to play, they want to run teams with the guys they're used to. and when i say guys... i mean GUYS. no girls.

3. it's SUPER bad ball... the guys that play down there are people that haven't really been trained in positions, rotations, or how to jump up and down without landing on the person next to them... or across from them... or on the other side of the court as them...

are you looking for places to play in manhattan? are you looking for a league or a pick-up game on the weekends?
