Hello from NC - 11-15-2006, 09:05 AM

Hey ya'll! I'm Chelle from NC and I found this site by surfing the net looking for clinics to get certified as a ref. I played vb almost 20 yrs ago for Queens College, in Charlotte. I love the sport and now that I have 2 daughters getting to the age to play I'm finding I love passing my love of the game onto them. I have coached rec ball for the last 2 years and LOVE it!!! Last yr I was with the 3-5th graders and we were undefeated and won the tournament. It was alot of hard work to get girls who have never touched a vb before and teach them the basics and help them develop into a unified team. It was awsome!!! This year I moved up to coach the 6-8th graders. It was a different beast. They have already decided at this age that they know more than you do. We finished 3rd for the season and in the tournament. It was frustrating to watch them beat themselves when they would start bickering and bring each other down.
I'm trying to read and get my hands on as much info as I can to be a better coach and am interested in becoming a ref. If anyone knows what the NC requirements are to become certified I'd love to hear back from you.
