weight training - 03-26-2008, 02:04 AM

Hi everybody, I'm looking for a few weight training exercises to help increase arm speed for my players. I have one player (she's a junior in HS)that has unofficial visits to several D-1 schools in California, Oregon and Washington. I want to help her arm speed, I have her doing plyometrics and weight training. I want to change weight training format to increase arm swing speed. She hits a very hard ball but I feel to push her to the next level this could be very helpful Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JD

I'm a big fan of medicine ball exercises too. I'm being a bum so I don't have any links for you but I'm sure there are some sites that have good routines to use.

For lifting.. Anything that emphasizes full range of motion. I always preach Olympic lifts.

You wanna build speed in the arm swing? Forgo the standard idea of weight training and just wear a very light wrist weight or just a glove. One other cautionary method is increasing your legiment strengths like finger hangs or to the extend of static chin ups.

I always wondered whether freestyle swimming would be good for arm speed.
