Skill level guide
Not sure which level is right for you? Here's a quick breakdown.
B
BEGINNER
Knows the basic skills — bumping, setting and spiking — but is still in the early learning stages. Makes mistakes often and has a lot of practice ahead to execute these skills consistently.
BB
INTERMEDIATE
Knows where to be on the court at all times as plays develop. Understands approach footwork, hitting effectively, and can run a 5-1, 6-2 or 4-2 rotation.
A
ADVANCED
Knows all skills extremely well but cannot always execute at the highest level consistently. Can run combination plays — slides, tandems, X's, crosses, and back-row hitting — when passes are good.
AA / Open
ELITE
An AA player can compete against USAV Division I level play. An AA team would beat a college Division I team at least some of the time. An Open player has had intensive training for national semi-professional competition. Note: AA and Open players may not play in B or BB level tournaments.
